frequently asked Q's

  • What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy uses body-based approaches to psychotherapy with the intention of exploring and restoring the nervous system's capacity to be in relationship: with ourselves, our kin, and our world. We first practice this by learning to be with our emotions and sensations with tenderness and care. Somatic therapy sessions are experiential, and may include breathing, exploring body sensations and feelings, processing patterns of constriction and emotion in the body, or using nonverbal forms of expression such as art or gentle movement. For more information, check out our Somatic Therapy page, dedicated to offering more information and resources on body-based psychotherapy approaches. My model blends 50min somatic "talk" therapy sessions with 2hr integrative somatic bodywork sessions, which means I use a blend of "talk" based and non-verbal, body-based interventions.
  • Are you currently accepting new clients?
Yes, I am currently accepting new clients for in-person therapy only.
  • What are your hours?
Therapy sessions are offered between 9am-2pm Mon-Thursday. My group work is offered in the evenings and on weekends. To find out more about group therapy, workshops, classes, and retreats, subscribe to my mailing list below or read here. I look forward to working with you!
  • How long are sessions?
Traditional talk therapy sessions usually last about 50 minutes. My model blends 50min sessions with 2hr integrative experiential somatic bodywork sessions. You can look at the differences between these two practices here. When working with the body, some folks might prefer to have a longer space to process and integrate, while others may benefit from the slow but impactful approach of spacing the work out into smaller sessions (titration). I blend shorter and longer sessions in our therapy plan to make space for nonverbal somatic trauma processing and verbal (talk) integration sessions.
  • How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are $175 per hour for individuals, $200 for couples/relationships. Psychotherapy services are covered by many health benefits providers, and HST is no longer charged on Psychotherapy services in Ontario.
  • Do you offer sliding scale?
Yes I do, however my sliding scale spots are currently full. Please reach out if you would like to be added to my sliding scale waitlist.
  • Are your offerings online or in person?
Both! For individual psychotherapy, I see folks in-person at my private office in Guelph, or online across Ontario. I also offer Forest Therapy sessions in Guelph. My group work is offered online and in-person. You can read more about that here.
  • Does Somatic Therapy involve any sort of touch?
Somatic Therapy is a body psychotherapy modality that does not require touch, though the option for hands-on somatic support is available. I am completing ongoing training in safe use of restorative touch for somatic trauma processing in body psychotherapy. Those trainings include Integrative Somatic Therapy Practiceâ„¢ (ISTPâ„¢) (2021-2025), and continuing education in NeuroEffective Touch (2023), bioenergetic touch for trauma, and Kathy Kain's Somatic Trauma Coupling Dynamics training (May 2025).
  • Are your services covered by insurance?
As a Registered Psychotherapist, I am covered under many insurance benefits plans. I am not able to direct-bill at this time, but can send a receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider.

The Feeling Space Somatic Therapy Center

somatic, ancestral, transpersonal, ecological attachment therapy

connecting with land, body, spirit & community

for personal & collective change

©2025 by The Feeling Space.

The Feeling Space operates (in so-called Guelph, ON) on the Owashtanong (Grand) River Watershed, vital ecological homeland to many more-than-human beings and ecosystems.  This land is the ancestral home of the Chonnonton (Neutral) and Haudenosaunee first peoples, and is part of the Between-the-Lakes purchase (Treaty 3) with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We acknowledge that land and bodies are not neutral, and hold the stories of the people who came before us. We seek to honour these stories and repair harm held within them from historical and ongoing impacts of colonization, land theft, and racial injustice that live in our bodies and patterns of relating.
